Over the holidays, I was invited by clients and friends to their private clubs for dinner and wine tasting. This led me to take a closer look at how private clubs work and their benefits.
What is a private club?
A private club is where people with similar interest gather and mingle in a private setting. It is by membership only with membership dues usually. Some main categories include wine clubs, social clubs, cigar club and book clubs.
What are the benefits of a private club?
Privacy: Private clubs provide the privacy that you want in the best way possible. If you don't want to be out and about in the public, you can just hang out in the club with other club members or bringing your own guests
Intimacy: On top of privacy, private clubs also provide the intimacy. With the membership only, everyone inside the venue knows that everyone else in here is a member or a member's guest, and that feeling pulls everyone closer instantly.
Exclusivity: For almost any private clubs, paying due is just one part of joining the club. They pre-screen all the applicants to make sure they meet the criteria for becoming a member, such as interest in certain activity, asset threshold, member count cap. To join a club, means you've met all the criteria and that will certainly make you feel exclusive and belonged.
Private club is a status symbol. It should help you with your networking, business negotiating and social gatherings. Inviting your friends and clients to your private club will give them a sense of exclusivity and respect, which are 2 big elements in making deals happen. It's not a bad idea to look into private clubs and be fortunate enough to join one.
