I was forwarded an article on "Canada's population increased by 776,000 over the first nine months of 2022".
That peeked my interest on Canada's population. I did a little search on Stat Canada, actually my first time on the website. They have this cool counter that reports live population number. Here's a snap shot of it.
Here's something interesting:
1 birth every 1 minute 30 secs,
1 death every 1 minute 28 secs,
1 immigrant every 1 minute 8 secs,
1 emigrant every 10 minutes 6 secs,
1 non-permanent residents every 4 minute 21 secs
1 interprovincial migrant every 1 minute 33 secs
It looks like Canada is getting people in faster than people leaving. Our population will continue to grow.
Then I looked at the population growth projection for 2021- 2068. Looks like for the next 10 years, we should see 500,000 population growth each year! That means population in year 2043 will be around 47 million people. That's 10 million more people compared to day.
The number is staggering. I'm very excited to see how the dramatic growth of population will bring talents, innovations and cultural changes to Canada. I also feel lucky that I live in a country that is desirable for a lot of people, and we open arms to the newcomers. With this growth, we will have more opportunities, more jobs, more retails, and more housing needs. As I'm in real estate, I always say we need to hold a long term view. I look forward to what the next 10 years will bring us!
